You know you are a nerd when "your friends" ditch you and go up the canyon without you to take pictures of the fall colors, when they KNOW you have been waiting all year for this chance.

Fall Colors

My mentor, Andrea Christensen, hasn't given me the word about fall leaves yet, but it was so nice driving back from Manti I had to snap a few photos.

Garden Week 18

This isn't a picture of the garden like I've done the previous weeks because after a couple of rough nights battling frost and some tough grasshoppers, the beauty is now in the produce. I used to watch a show on PBS called the "Victory Garden" and they had picture perfect gardens right up to harvest time. No such luck or talent in this house. But all that really matters is the final product.

SEPTEMBER 11TH

IT'S HARD NOT TO THINK ABOUT THE EVENTS 7 YEARS AGO TODAY AND AS I LEFT THE NEIGHBORHOOD THIS MORNING THE FLAGS WEREN'T PLACED ON THE LAWNS BY THE SCOUTS, BUT MANY OTHER WARDS HAD THEM UP AND THE TOWNS IN SANPETE COUNTY HAD THEM LINING HIGHWAY 89. I WANTED TO POST THIS IN HONOR OF OUR U S MARINES AND OTHER MILITARY WHO SERVE TO PROTECT US. A QUOTE I REMEMBER HEARING GOES LIKE THIS:

"FOR THOSE WHO SERVED, FREEDOM HAS FLAVOR THE PROTECTED NEVER KNOW".

I WANT TO HONOR THOSE WHO PROTECT ME AND MY FAMILY AND WEAR THE UNIFORM OF OUR GREAT NATION. GOD BLESS THEM IN THEIR SACRIFICE.

Garden Week 16

I had this sick feeling last week when we left that it would freeze and sure enough it did. Having a frost September 1st isn't unheard of, but it sure can end an excellent growing season. Luckily I covered the tomatoes and the black leaves on the pumpkins appear to be cosmetic only.

Garden Week 15

Here we go, it froze in Manti Monday night but as the pictures show I covered the tomatoes so with any luck things will still be as perfect as when we left. The Manti Temple was a photo op I couldn't resist and with Andrea Christensen's expert advice and talent we were successful.

Labor Day Weekend

The weather cooperated just enough so we were able to go up to Skyline Drive one last time this year and have a great weekend. Thanks to Wyatt, Andrea, Olivia, Calvin Richard and Andrea's sister Carrie for an outstanding party. And most of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARSHA!
